“Physical and mathematical sciences” series was the first from the cycle of “Volga region” issues. The first journal was issued in 2002 and was devoted to physical and mathematical sciences. The aim of the journal is to inform the broad scientific community on results of innovative research in physics and mathematics by leading research groups from Volga region universities. One of the priorities of the issue is the development of fruitful international cooperation in physics and mathematics and assistance in interdisciplinary research on modern international level. The practice proves that as a rule the most important research results happen to be the product of such systematic cooperation. Besides that, it gives a great opportunity to train young high qualified scientists and involve them into world level science. The fulfillment of the stated objective is promoted by the possibility to publish article in English, as well as by the publishing priority given to articles with authors from different countries. In modern environment when the number of scientific journals grows almost exponentially, the authority and prestige of the publication may be provided only by the maintenance of permanently high level of scientific publications. The journal’s multistep system of reviewing enables selection of the best works, describing significant research results, taking into account the experience of foreign scientists in the corresponding field of research and being of interest for the world scientific community. We preserve the traditions, we constantly develop adopting the experience of advanced nations and leading publishing houses. We apply our best efforts to properly introduce the research results by the scientists from Volga region to the international scientific community.

All the articles provided for review have their original text tested for the level of uniqueness determined by using the appropriate software that shows the uniqueness of the article, sources used and coincidence of the text by means of Antiplagiatsystems.
During the examination, the reviewer analyses the report verifying the text originality in order to assess the reliability of identified citations and self-citations. The reuse by the author of his/her own texts from early works without reference to the source or to the extent not justified by the citation goal is recognised unconscionable self-citation and is prohibited. The author’s citation of his/her past publications is acceptable if the new paper is a follow-up to a previously initiated study. Processing of the text to increase the originality percentage is recognised a serious ethical violation. The authors are not allowed to reiterate the ideas and duplicate the results of scientific studies already published in printed or electronic form.
